How to make the last tear of News Flash easier

If you own News Flash from Axel Hecklau, you too may have problems with the last tear of the newspaper with the handling Axel shows on his DVD. He also shows an alternative handling which is much easier, but has the drawback that you have to re-sort the paper layers before you can do the restoration, which makes it a bit less clean and surprising.

I played a bit with the problem and finally came up with a little modification. See this video how the handling looks like.

Now what did I do to make this handling possible. In the next picture I have removed the gimmick from the newspaper packet before it is completely hidden in the newspaper that gets torn. If you own the trick you will know what I mean.

You see at the right hand side a white stripe of newspaper paper glued diagonal over the packet. It’s important that the lower left end is glued below the packet so that it’s not broken by the second tear. The other and has to be glued flat, because this way it will be automatically torn with the last tear.

Be carefull when gluing the one end below the packet onto the newspaper that gets torn that you don’t glue the paket with it too!

With this done, you cover the packet with your gimmick and hide everything with the halve page as normal.

I’m looking forward for your experiences.

(In an earlier version I had both ende glued below the packet whit the result that during one restauration I was left with to pices of the strip in each hand with the restored paper, because the strip broke at the middle. Didn’t look that nice)
